Sailing Course / Module 9
OBJECTIVE
After completing this module you will know in theory how to maintain the standing and running rigging of the monohull and catamaran vessels. The concepts of the maintenance are fairly universal across all vessel types, and sticking to the schedule is imperative to extend the working lifetime of your rigging while keeping you safe at sea.

In this section you will learn what products, equipment and tools to use and procedures to follow when maintaining the rigging of the CNB Lagoon 620 catamaran and the M.A.T. 1010 monohull. The optimum frequency for these procedures are also listed, for example, should they occur daily, weekly or monthly. |
Preventative maintenance, as opposed to a reactive maintenance philosophy, is used to ensure that the vessel, its tools and equipment do not deteriorate rapidly in the moist and salty environment of the ocean. These drills provide the knowledge required to maintain the vessel.
The procedures between the monohull and catamaran are very similar as the concepts, tools and the products are the same.
